Story
(Ocarina of Time)
Born as a princess of Hyrule, Zelda had a strong sense of duty for her kingdom ever since she was young. The holder of the Triforce of wisdom, she is wise beyond her years. Concerned with one of her father's associates, the Gerudo king Ganondorf, she had a vision of Ganondorf's betrayal of her father, the king of Hyrule.
Convinced that Ganondorf was after the Triforce, Zelda asked Link to find the three Spiritual Stones that would open the Temple of Time in order to prevent Ganondorf from opening the Door of Time and claiming the Triforce to himself. Unfortunately, Ganondorf made his move before Link could return, leading an insurrection in the castle.
Unable to escape in time, she was trapped in the castle and taken captive. Unknown to her, Ganondorf had made an agreement with a noble from another world for funds and manpower for his insurrection, and Zelda is the price to be paid, as the noble is childless and without a heir. Once Ganondorf gain the Triforce of Power, he sent Zelda to the noble, to raise as his heir.
